
Saint Patrick’s Day – it is a day that is celebrated by people not only here in Ireland, but also in cities all around the world. On the 17th March we honour our patron saint by attending exciting festivals and parades, and of course by wearing the colour green, the colour of the shamrock that Saint Patrick used to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.
If you want to truly experience the buzz of Saint Patrick’s Day, Dublin is undoubtedly the place to be. The programme for the Saint Patrick’s Festival, running from the 14-17th March, is packed full of exciting events, with something suitable for everyone.

Just some of the highlights will be the Céilí House Live event in the National Concert Hall, which will showcase the best of traditional Irish music, song and dance; the Street Theatre that will see the streets of Dublin become the stage for some truly enthralling and vibrant performances, and the Greening of the City, where Dublin’s most iconic buildings “Go Green” to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Festival.

Dublin’s famous Guinness Storehouse also have an exciting programme in place, with live music, flash mob céilís, Guinness sampling and much more happening from the 14-17th March. If your name is ‘Patrick’ or one of its many variants, you can become a ‘VIP’ and gain free admission to Guinness Storehouse on Saint Patrick’s Day!
Of course the main event will be the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade which will make its way through the city centre. With a theme of ‘Celebrate Now’, the parade will be a spectacular display of colour and theatrics inspired by the present. It attracts people from all over the world every year, and is truly a unique experience for any visitor!
